LAUC-SC is a Division of the Librarians Association of the University of California (LAUC) and is recognized as an official unit of the University. It is a statewide organization of all librarians employed at least half time by the University. LAUC annually administers a research program with funding provided by the Office of the President, and also offers two other smaller grants: the Mini-Grant and the Presentation Grant. All LAUC members participate in a peer review process. Membership is automatic and entails no dues.
LAUC serves the following purposes:
The LAUC Buddy/Guide program is intended to serve as a welcome to newly hired librarians (including temporary librarians hired at 50% time and above) and to help them become oriented to our environment, especially in (but not limited to) areas such as reviews and getting involved in LAUC. It is not intended to replace other mentoring activities that focus on primary areas of job responsibility.
