Pick Up Service:

Patrons with disabilities can arrange for a pick up of print materials.

To arrange a pick up, please contact the Circulation staff. When possible, it is helpful to give Circulation staff advance notice of the materials you will need. They can be contacted via:

Proxy Borrowing: Disability Resource Center-registered students may designate another person to borrow library materials on their behalf.

For students registered with the Disability Resource Center (DRC):

• If the library owns a book that you need for a class, but it is not compatible with your preferred screen reader, we will purchase a version that meets your needs. Use our Purchase Request form to order the book and indicate that this is an ADA/DRC request.
• If the library does not own a book compatible with your preferred screen reader, we will obtain a version that meets your needs. Use our Purchase Request form to order the book and indicate that this is an ADA/DRC request. If no eBook is available for purchase, we will purchase a print book which the DRC can scan into a PDF format.

Library Databases are provided by a wide range of vendors. Many of our databases are provided through EBSCO, Proquest and GALE. Each of the latter vendors is compliant with Section 508 and/or W3C WAI WCAG 2.0 compliant. Contact us if you have questions about specific resources.

A silent study area is located on the 4th Floor of McHenry Library in Room 4286. This large space is open and available during normal library hours.

 

Students can reserve a private study room, available in both McHenry Library and the Science & Engineering Library. Private study rooms can be reserved on the Library's Reserve a Study Room page.

Printers and scanners are available in both McHenry and the Science & Engineering library. Photocopiers are available at McHenry Library.

There is an ADA entrance to the ground floor of Science & Engineering Library. Patrons can utilize the ADA door from the outside of the building by calling the Science & Engineering circulation desk. To exit using the ADA door, patrons can ring the doorbell adjacent to the door, and library staff will disarm and open the door. Student patrons may also contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to request ID card access to this door, which lets them enter and exit S&E through this door without needing staff help.

Service animals are welcome in the University Library. In order to help maintain a productive and safe environment for all Library users and staff, we ask that patrons refrain from bringing non-service animals to the library. Service animals must be under handler control at all times, and may not be left unattended by their handler at any time.
