Campus Audio & Visual Media

KZSC 88.1FM
KZSC is a non-commercial, educational public radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the University of California. It began in 1967, and serves the UCSC campus and community listening audience by broadcasting news, public affairs, music, entertainment, and spoken- word programming as well as broadcasts and information about various UCSC campus events and issues to Santa Cruz County and the greater Monterey Bay area. Programming schedule and live Web cast links are available on the KZSC site.
UCSC Student Media
In Student Media, students have the opportunity to make their voices heard through a variety of newspapers and literary journals, radio and TV broadcasts.
Banana Slug News (BSN)
Broadcasting on channel 16 throughout the quarter, Banana Slug News is official broadcast news network at UCSC. We create professional news broadcasts multiple times per quarter covering campus, city, and athletic news. SCTV (Student Cable Television) is an organization and council comprised of representatives from several media organizations on the UCSC campus.

Campus Print Media

ALAY
An original student publication, housed under the UCSC Filipino Student Association. It is comprised of written and visual art, submitted by community members to promote student artwork and expression. Also see their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/alay.ucsc
EyeCandy Film Journal
Student-run media studies collection published annually. Our aim is to focus on culturally relevant and compelling topics that expand our relationships with film, television, and new media forms. Online archive available from October 1999.

Land Acknowledgement

The land on which we gather is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.

The land acknowledgement used at UC Santa Cruz was developed in partnership with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band Chairman and the Amah Mutsun Relearning Program at the UCSC Arboretum.
