The David Kirk Media Center supports the study and teaching of film and digital media, acting, languages, music, and other disciplines. Faculty depend on the Media Center's collections and annually borrow thousands of items for classroom use. Students use

Podcasting Room

Room with podcasting equipment

Room 0344 is a two to four person podcasting room with acoustic panels. Student, Staff and Faculty are encouraged to check out the equipment to record sessions. The equipment is located at the Media Desk.

The DSC is located on the Ground Floor of McHenry Library. We are committed to:

Viewing and Listening Rooms

You can reserve any of the rooms described below using our Study Rooms page.

Six group viewing rooms
Rooms 0331, 0332, 0334, 0335, 0336, and 0338 support group video study for up to fourteen people. Please click on the link for each room for more information about installed equipment and room capacity.

Seven two-person group listening rooms
Rooms 033903400341, 0342, 03430344, and 0346 support audio study of music.  

Podcasting Room
Room 0344 is a two to 4 person pod casting room with sound proof panels.  Student, Staff and Faclty are encouraged to check out the equipment to record sessions.  The equipment is located at the Media Desk.

Keyboard Room
Room 0333 has a Yamaha P115 88-Key Weighted Action Digital Piano for music study and practice. It also has Sibelius 5 notation software.

Accessible Technology Room
Room 0337 has hardware and software to assist students with disabilities. Hardware includes computer and scanner. There is a handheld magnifier available for checkout at the Media Desk for use in this room. Current software includes:

  • Dragon Naturallyspeaking 13
  • ZoomText
  • OpenBook 9.0
  • FSReader 3.0

Group Study Room
Room 0351 is a four person group study room. It has a table, chairs, dry erase board, and external LCD monitor with VGA connection.

Large Viewing Room
Room 0345 is a 20 person viewing room with BluRay DVD, surround sound and 52" monitor.

Digital Scholarship Commons VizLab
Room 0349 is designed to facilitate student engagement in digital media through the use of visual technologies. The lab includes a high performance, graphics intensive workstation with available 3D modeling, animation, and Virtual Reality software.

Six open video workstations with 20" LCD HDTVs.

All have DVD players. Some have multi-region DVD players, VHS players, multi-format VHS players, blu-ray, and laserdisc players.
