Digital Scholarship Innovation Studio

Policies

The equipment in the DSI is available for use by UCSC affiliated undergraduates, graduates, faculty, and staff who have completed a training session and continue to follow the usage policies.

Failure to follow usage policies may result in loss of access to the DSI.

  • Printing of weapons is prohibited (even in parts)
  • The 3D printers and other equipment may not be used for illegal activities.
  • The equipment may not be used for commercial purposes.
  • Patrons are responsible for adhering to US copyright law.
  • DSI supported course-related and assignment-related use of the equipment takes priority over non-academic use.
  • Only library provided filament may be used in the 3D printers.
  • Prints must be completed within the operating hours of the studio. These hours are currently 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday.  Printers cannot be left to run overnight.  If your print is not complete by the time the DSI closes, DSI students will stop the printer to properly close the space.
  • All existing library policies must be observed while in the studio.
