S&E Library Individual Study and Online Learning Site

The Science & Engineering Library has an individual study and online learning site available to all UCSC students.

The space is open Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 5:00pm.

How to Use the Space:

  1. Reserve your space
    Spaces are available for up to 4 hours per day
     
  2. Show your green clearance badge when you arrive
    If you live off campus, you must register for the COVID-19 symptom screening and testing reminders as described in the Student COVID-19 page at least one week before coming to campus
     
  3. Wear your mask
    Masks are required and will be available for students who need one
     
  4. Bring your laptop or device, if needed
    Library computers will not be available for use

Policies

  • This space is only available to current UCSC students
  • Individual student study and online learning only - no group activities are permitted
  • Reservations are required
  • Spaces can be reserved for up to 4 hours per day, in consecutive (back-to-back) time slots or as two separate reservations
  • Students may stay beyond 4 hours if space is available
  • No eating and drinking (prohibited while Santa Cruz County is in the purple tier)
  • Masks are required
  • Green clearance badge required for entry

Safety Measures in Place

  • Plexiglass barrier at entry point
  • Disinfecting supplies and hand sanitizer at every space
  • Physically distanced study spaces
  • Airflow settings to increase fresh air throughout the space (wear layers!)
  • Regular cleaning thanks to campus custodial services
  • Restrooms limited to single user
  • Masks required, and will be available for students who arrive without a mask

Services That Remain Unavailable

  • Physical library materials, including course reserves, are not available for use
  • Library computers, printers, scanners, and copiers are not available
  • Group study spaces and the gaming lab are not available
  • Library Lower and Upper floors will not be accessible
  • No access for people other than currently enrolled UCSC students
