Media Desk in the David Kirk Digital Scholarship Commons

My Professor placed a DVD/VHS on reserve for my class. How do I find it?

Reserve VHS tapes and DVDs are housed behind the Media Desk in the Digital Scholarship Commons on the ground floor of McHenry Library. In order to check out reserve materials:

  • From the library home page, search by using the Course Reserves search box.
  • Select the Reserves tab in the search box, and use the drop down menu to choose to search by Course Name or Instructor.
  • Check the reserves listing for the item call number.
  • Bring the call number for the item you want to the Media Desk.

Can I take any Media item home?

  • Faculty, faculty proxies, and graduate students may check out non-reserve Media materials for seven days. These groups may take Media materials out of the library.
  • Staff, undergraduate students, and community members may check out Media materials for four hours. These groups are invited to use equipment and study rooms in the Digital Scholarship Commons but may not take materials out of the DSC.
  • Staff and Undergraduates may check out items from the Media Circulating Collection for seven days. Media Circulation Collection items may be removed from the library. There is no grace period or renewal on these items, so be sure to get them back to the library by their due dates.
