The UCSC Library is committed to partnering with faculty to support transformative scholarly communication initiatives that create a more sustainable set of economic transactions among the stakeholders, as well as those that remove or reduce the impediments to the flow and availability of knowledge.
The Library looks for strategic opportunities to support transformative initiatives across the full range of scholarly communication, from information/data sharing to open access publishing and archiving.
For example, the UC libraries negotiate discounts on Open Access Article Publication Charges (APCs) whenever possible. Over ten publishers currently offer these APC fee reductions to our authors, including Springer and Taylor & Francis. More information about Open Access support at UCSC is available.
