Troubleshooting tips

If you have problems accessing an ebook, here are a few things to try first:

  • Make sure you are connected through OCA if you're off campus.
  • Try additional web browsers, particularly if you're on a Macbook.
  • Check the ebrary, EBSCO and EBL support pages to find the system requirements to make sure that your system and web browser(s) are supported.

EBL titles can be downloaded or transferred to any device that supports Adobe Digital Editions or the Bluefire Reader app. This includes the iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, Android devices and most ebook readers.

*Note: You can only download an item after you click "Read Online" and not within the 5-minute browsing window. After 24 hours, you'll be prompted to download the book again.

In the new online Reader use Print to PDF to create a PDF that can be printed (or saved).

Can create a PDF of up to 30% of a book, to save and/or print.

Can copy up to 15% of a book, text only. Some publishers have set more restrictive limits. 

 

You will need Adobe Digital Editions to download ebooks to your laptop or desktop. This free software is different from Adobe Reader.

*Note: Most ebrary titles allow for one user at a time, and these cannot be downloaded for offline reading.

From the right column, you can print, email, save, or export the record,.

Can create a PDF of up to 60 pages, to save or email. Actual number of pages varies by publisher. Some allow no printing.

* Note: Only seeing the first page of an eBook or new PDF is opened each time you turn a page? Go to PDF settings.

If an eBook is available for downloading, you'll see a Download (offline) link that allows you to check-out and download the eBook and read it on your computer or transfer it to your Adobe Digital Editions-compatible eBook Reader device.

In order to download eBooks, you must have Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher installed on your computer. This is a free download.

* Note: Ebooks can be downloaded for offline reading for 24 hours, then they disappear from your device. Some books are not downloadable.
